Stephon Castle made NBA history on Saturday night by recording a triple-double with 40 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists during the San Antonio Spurs‘ victory over the Dallas Mavericks. At just 20 years old, Castle became the youngest player ever to achieve these numbers in a single game.

In only 32 minutes on the court, Castle showcased a dominant all-around performance, adding three steals and one block. Spurs Maintain Control in Win Over Mavericks Backed by Strong Team Effort

The Spurs maintained offensive pressure throughout the game, defeating the Mavericks 138-125 at home. San Antonio managed to score over 33 points in each of the first three quarters, creating a commanding lead that Dallas could not overcome despite efforts to rally in the final period.

San Antonio’s dominance inside the paint and on the boards was crucial, pulling down 52 rebounds compared to Dallas’s 41, and outscoring them with 74 points inside. This focus on rebounding and inside scoring proved decisive in the high-scoring encounter.

Castle’s performance was supported by several teammates reaching double-digit points. Devin Vassell contributed 17 points, six assists, four rebounds, and a block, while Victor Wembanyama added 16 points and 11 rebounds. De’Aaron Fox provided 15 points and five assists, complemented by 11 points each from Carter Bryant and Dylan Harper.

Spurs Improve Standings and Prepare for Upcoming Challenges

The Spurs boosted their season record to 36-16, holding the second place in the Western Conference. They sit ahead of the Denver Nuggets and Houston Rockets but trail the Oklahoma City Thunder, maintaining strong momentum with four straight wins.

Looking ahead, San Antonio will face the Los Angeles Lakers on February 10, playing on the road in what promises to be a challenging matchup. This game will be critical as the Spurs aim to consolidate their position and continue their optimistic and determined push toward the playoffs.
