Bulls’ Zach Collins Out for Season, Jaden Ivey Faces Knee Soreness

The Chicago Bulls announced on Saturday that power forward Zach Collins will undergo surgery on his right big toe, ending his season prematurely. Meanwhile, guard Jaden Ivey is managing left knee soreness and is scheduled for a follow-up evaluation in two weeks.

Zach Collins’ Performance and Career Background

This season, Collins, 28, averaged 9.7 points and 5.6 rebounds over 10 games coming off the bench. Over his 388 career games, including 83 starts, he has contributed 8.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, playing for the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, and Bulls. Originally, Collins was selected 10th overall in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings but was traded to the Trail Blazers on draft night.

Jaden Ivey’s Recent Performance and Injury History

Ivey, who turned 24 on February 13, has posted averages of 11.5 points and 4.8 rebounds across four games, three of which he started, since joining the Bulls from the Detroit Pistons earlier this month. The Pistons drafted him fifth overall in the 2022 first round. Ivey’s playing time has been limited due to a broken leg last season and ongoing knee issues this year.

Impact of These Injuries on the Bulls’ Season

Collins’ surgery and season-ending injury remove a reliable contributor from the Bulls’ rotation, while Ivey’s knee soreness introduces uncertainty about his availability in the near term. The team will monitor Ivey closely to determine how soon he can return to full strength as they navigate the remainder of the season.
