Early Life and Background

Frank Vatrano was born on March 14, 1994, in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Growing up, he developed a passion for hockey and participated in the 2006 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Minuteman Flames minor ice hockey team. Vatrano attended Cathedral High School before transferring to Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he played in the U.S. National Team Development Program. His early exposure to competitive hockey laid the foundation for his future career.

Path to Hockey

Vatrano began his junior career with the Boston Jr. Bruins, where he played in the 2009-10 season, recording two points in eight games. He later joined the U.S. National Development Team Program. After initially committing to Boston College for NCAA Division I hockey, he faced eligibility issues due to academic scores. He returned to the Boston Jr. Bruins while appealing the decision and subsequently started his collegiate career with the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst). Vatrano’s impressive performance in the AHL led to his first NHL recall on November 6, 2015. He made his NHL debut the following day and scored his first NHL goal against the Montreal Canadiens.
