Jarran Kentrel Reed was born on December 16, 1992, in Goldsboro, North Carolina. He attended Goldsboro High School, where he graduated in 2011. Due to poor academic performance, Reed attended Hargrave Military Academy for a year after high school to improve his grades. This experience helped him refocus on his education and athletic career. After his time at Hargrave, Reed went on to play college football, starting at East Mississippi Community College before transferring to the University of Alabama.
