Joseph Thomas Anderson (born June 19, 1998) is an American professional ice hockey forward currently playing for the Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract with the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League (NHL). Anderson was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the third round of the 2016 NHL Draft. He has also played for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Joey Anderson was born in Roseville, Minnesota. He grew up in a family with a strong hockey background, which influenced his early interest in the sport. Path to Hockey
After his time with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program, Joey Anderson graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the third round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, being selected 73rd overall. Following the draft, he chose to continue his development with the Minnesota–Duluth Bulldogs in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). In his rookie season, he played in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff championship game, scoring the game-winning goal, which helped the Bulldogs secure their first title over the University of North Dakota. Joey Anderson signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the New Jersey Devils on April 15, 2018. He made his NHL debut on October 27, 2018, in a game against the Florida Panthers.
