Roman Jeffrey Wilson is an American professional football wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Michigan Wolverines, winning three consecutive Big Ten Conference titles and a national championship in 2023. Wilson was named an All-Big Ten selection and was selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Roman Jeffrey Wilson was born on June 19, 2001, in Kihei, Hawaii. He attended Saint Louis School in Honolulu, where he excelled in football. During his time at Saint Louis, Wilson contributed to a remarkable 38-game winning streak and helped the team secure four consecutive state championships. As a senior in 2019, he caught 61 passes for 1,025 yards and 11 touchdowns, showcasing his skills as a standout player. In the 2019 state championship game, he caught eight passes for 171 yards, including an impressive 86-yard touchdown. Wilson also participated in Nike’s The Opening regional camp in 2019, where he won the ‘Fastest Man’ race with a 40-yard dash time of 4.37 seconds. He was rated as a four-star recruit and was recognized as the third-best player from Hawaii.
Path to American Football
Wilson committed to play college football for the University of Michigan in July 2019. He made his collegiate debut during the COVID-shortened 2020 season, appearing in all six games and catching nine passes for 122 yards, including his first career touchdown against Indiana. As a sophomore in 2021, he continued to develop, appearing in all 13 games and catching 25 passes for 420 yards and two touchdowns. In the 2022 season opener against Colorado State, Wilson scored a 61-yard touchdown, further solidifying his role in the team. He faced his hometown team, Hawaii, in week two, scoring two touchdowns in that game. By his junior year in 2022, he had caught 25 passes for 376 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his versatility as a receiver and rusher. In 2023, Wilson started all 15 games, contributing significantly to Michigan’s national championship victory. He finished the season with 48 receptions for 789 yards and 12 touchdowns, earning recognition as a second-team All-Big Ten selection.
