His strong performance in high school led him to commit to play college football at the University of Maryland, turning down various other offers.

Path to American Football

Anderson began his college football career at the University of Maryland in 2018, where he made appearances in two games as a true freshman. His subsequent seasons saw him progressively take on more significant roles, starting in multiple games and showcasing his versatility by playing at various positions on the offensive line. By the time he reached his final year, he had established himself as a key player, starting all 13 games and allowing only two sacks throughout the season. Spencer Anderson was selected in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, being the 251st overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
