As a 3-star recruit, he was recognized as the top-ranked quarterback in Connecticut during his senior year. He received a scholarship offer from the University of Connecticut, choosing it over offers from several other schools, including Boston College, Harvard, and Syracuse.

Although he did not play during the 2018 regular season, Boyle saw his first professional playing time on October 20, 2019, during a Week 7 win over the Oakland Raiders. He took over for Rodgers in the final minutes of the game, kneeling the ball three times to run out the clock. Boyle’s first completion came on November 24, 2019, against the San Francisco 49ers, where he finished the game with 3-of-4 pass attempts for 15 yards.
