Claude Giroux is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward and alternate captain for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League. Early Career (2007–2009)
Giroux made his NHL debut on February 19, 2008, against the Ottawa Senators. After a difficult training camp in fall 2008, he was sent to the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League, where he was named AHL Rookie of the Month for December 2008 and soon rejoined the Flyers. On December 31, 2008, he recorded his first NHL point, an assist on a Jeff Carter goal against the Vancouver Canucks, and on January 27, 2009, he scored his first NHL goal against the Florida Panthers. He finished 2008–09 with nine goals and 27 points in 42 games.
