He attended Robert McQueen High School in Reno, where he excelled as an all-state linebacker and receiver, leading his high school football team to a perfect 14–0 record and a 4A state championship in 2008. In addition to football, he was a multi-sport athlete, lettering in basketball, baseball, and track, where he earned all-league honors in several events. Path to American Football

After high school, Kyle Van Noy accepted a scholarship to Brigham Young University. During his freshman season in 2010, he played in every game, starting two, and recorded 35 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss. He quickly established himself as a key player, earning letterman honors. His sophomore season saw him record 68 tackles, leading the team with 15 tackles for loss and 7 sacks.
