Early Life and Background

Riley Moss was born on March 3, 2000, in Ankeny, Iowa. He attended Centennial High School in Ankeny, where he excelled in both football and track. Initially, he committed to play college football at North Dakota State before his senior season. During his senior year, he caught six passes for 167 yards and a touchdown on offense, while also making 29 tackles and securing an interception on defense. After receiving a late offer, Moss decommitted from North Dakota State and chose to play for the University of Iowa.

Path to American Football

Moss joined the Iowa Hawkeyes as a blue-shirt recruit and earned a scholarship after his freshman season. He made an immediate impact, being named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week after intercepting two passes against Minnesota. In his junior year, he recorded 43 tackles, broke up four passes, and intercepted two passes, one of which he returned for a touchdown. His senior season was marked by a standout performance where he returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the first game. However, he faced a setback when he suffered a torn posterior cruciate ligament, causing him to miss three games.
