Matthew Brendan Tkachuk is an American professional ice hockey player who plays left wing and serves as an alternate captain for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League. Selected sixth overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, he played six seasons in Calgary before being traded to Florida in July 2022. Matthew Brendan Tkachuk was born on December 11, 1997, in Scottsdale, Arizona, while his father Keith Tkachuk was playing for the Phoenix Coyotes. His mother, Chantal Oster Tkachuk, is a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, who met Keith during his years with the original Winnipeg Jets. After Keith was traded to the St. Louis Blues in 2001, three-year-old Matthew moved with his family to Creve Coeur, Missouri, a St. Louis suburb where he was raised.
